Privacy Policy

What we collect

  • Your email — has to be a real @ufl.edu address, that's how we know you're actually a UF student
  • Your name and a profile photo, if you add one
  • Your sorority/org, if you choose to share it — optional, and only visible to you and to SwampSwap admins reviewing accounts right now, not shown publicly on the site
  • Listings you post — photos, descriptions, price, size, pickup area
  • Messages between you and other users about a booking
  • Booking history — what you've rented, listed, or tried on, and ratings you leave or receive
  • A screenshot of your ONE.UF schedule, only if you use the screenshot-verification signup path instead of the email link — used once, by hand, to confirm you're a real student

What we don't ever see

Your card number never touches our servers or our database. When you save a payment method or get charged, that happens directly with Stripe — we only ever store Stripe's own reference IDs (like a payment method ID or a connected account ID for owners getting paid out), never the actual card details.

Who can see what

  • Your name and profile photo are visible to other users you interact with (on a listing, in a conversation, on your public profile page)
  • Your email, verification status, and account settings are private — visible only to you and to SwampSwap admins
  • A small admin team (people who run SwampSwap) can see account and booking details when needed to review a verification, look into a reported problem, or handle a payment issue — this access is limited to what's needed to run the platform, not general browsing

Account deletion

If you close your account, we scrub your personal info (name, email, photo, org) and disable the login — we don't hard-delete the underlying account. That's on purpose: your past bookings, ratings, and messages are also part of someone else's record (the person you rented from or to), so removing them would erase their history too. What's left behind after deletion is anonymized — no longer tied to your name or email.

Storage and security

Photos and verification screenshots are stored privately — they're not publicly accessible URLs, and access is limited to what each page actually needs to show (you, the relevant admin, or nobody at all). Logging in doesn't use a password by default — we send a one-time secure link to your @ufl.edu email instead, so there's no password to leak in the first place.
